Specializing in Spec Miata Race Engines
Meet Jeff LaBounty
How It Began
Jeff LaBounty has over 40 years in auto repair and restoration as well as an impressive record as a racecar driver. A native of New Hampshire, LaBounty started racing oval track at age 18. In 1988, weary of the cold winters, he moved to Florida, continuing his craft of mechanic and auto body specialist. In 1999 he purchased AutoTechnik, focusing on foreign car repair. His desire to race again grew strong, however, and he ventured back to the track in 2000, but this time opted for road racing.
The Spec Miata class was just beginning to gain popularity at the time, building a reputation for fun, relatively inexpensive, safe racing. So LaBounty built a car, hit the grid, kicked some SM butt, and the rest is history. During that time, Jeff shared his love for racing and his talents as a car builder with scores of faithful clients.
Where We Are Now
In 2023 Jeff sold AutoTechnik Racing to focus solely on race engine building and performance as LaBounty Race Engines. His love for engine R&D and hands-on machining and production has led him to great success in his field, a national reputation, and personal fulfillment in providing top-grade services and products to his customers.
